Michael “Mike” S. Weve, 44, lifetime resident of Mt. Hope, passed away June 7, 2012, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born January 28, 1968, in Hutchinson, KS the son of Robert (Jerry) and Sharon (Spain) Weve.
A graduate of Haven High School, he graduated Hutchinson Community College studying fire science and received his certification as an emergency medical technician. He served as a volunteer firefighter and EMS for the Mt. Hope community for 26 years. As a youth he joined the Boy Scouts and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout and obtained the Order of the Arrow.
He was employed at Siemens.
He is survived by: his mother, Sharon Weve of Haven, KS; two sisters, Diana and Mike Waggoner, of St. Louis, MO, and Carol and David Tackett, Mt. Hope, KS; brother, Robert and Evie Weve, Haven, KS; three nieces, Amber Sanneman, Kristi Tackett and Rebecca Weve; three nephews, Levi Sterling, Josh and Justin Weve; three great-nephews, Tyler and Andrew Voth, and John Sanneman; and a great-niece, Caitlin Sanneman. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert (Jerry) Weve.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Haven Baptist Church, Haven, KS, with burial following in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mount Hope.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Ott Funeral Home, Haven, KS. Memorials may be given to the Mt. Hope Fire Department or the Mt. Hope EMS, both in care of Ott Funeral Home, 102 N. Wichita, Haven, KS 67543.
