Benny Glenn Bailey

Benny Glenn Bailey, 79, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home. He was born April 28, 1937 in Pratt, KS to Charles Rutledge and Ora Fern (Parsley) Bailey. On April 16, 1961, he married Helen Louise (Ridge) Bailey in Pratt.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, the Pratt County Historical Museum, and the BPOE Elks #1451. He was instrumental in starting the Township #12 Rural Fire Department, where he served as both Assistant Chief and Fire Chief. Military history and honoring those who served was his passion, which led to helping with the development of the B-29 All Veterans Memorial. He retired from the Iuka Coop in 1995.
Surviving in addition to his wife Helen; are son, Van (Alice) Bailey of Emporia; daughters, Ellen (Arlan) Hair of Pratt and Carla (Durwin) Smith of Pratt. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00-8:00 pm at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Marvin Ewerett presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt, KS.
Memorials may be made to Pratt Co. Historical Society or the B-29 All Veterans Memorial in care of the mortuary.
