Teddy Lynn “Ted” McGuire, 77, of rural Parsons, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at his home.

He was born July 20, 1939 in rural Cherryvale, Kansas to Emmett C. and Marie L. (Barnhart) McGuire. He grew up in Cherryvale where he attended school and graduated from Cherryvale High School.

Following graduation, he lived in Altamont and later Parsons where he worked as an auto mechanic for several shops and at Mobilfreeze. He then worked as a millwright at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant until his retirement in 2004.

Ted was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherryvale. He enjoyed going to rummage sales and auctions and in earlier years hunting and fishing. He was a volunteer fireman on the Altamont Fire Department and had been recognized for reaching milestone levels in blood donations. In his younger years, he was a member of the Jaycees.

On January 18, 1958, he and Georgia “Lynn” Jeffries were married in Cherryvale. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2000.

One Great-Granddaughter
Two Brothers – Gerald McGuire Hesperia, CA
Larry McGuire Snellville, GA
Three Sisters – Karen Lassman Visalia, CA
Gwen Parks Coffeyville, KS
Marilyn Dawson Fayetteville, NC

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert McGuire; and two sisters, Bonita Mischler and Kay Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale. The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS). These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
