Vermillion man, 86, killed in early morning mobile home fire

An 86-year-old Vermillion man died in an early morning house fire.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the fire started at approximately 3:20 a.m. Thursday in rural Vermillion. Donald F. Jacobson, 86, was found dead. His son, Larry Jacobson, was also living at the residence at the time of the fire but escaped unharmed.

The Kansas State Fire Marshalls Office was called to the scene and determined the fire was an accident. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Frankfort Fire Department, Frankfort Ambulance and Nemaha County Fire Department also responded.
