Firefighters are battling a large grass fire in Dodge City this afternoon.

The fire has forced Dodge City Public Schools to change how students will get home after class is dismissed.

The district says any students living south of McArtor in south Dodge City will remain at school until further notice, and buses will not be taking students home.

Storm Team 12 chaser Ed O’Neal was in Dodge City and shot video of the fire. At one point, he caught flames burning an outbuilding.

A shelter for fire evacuees has been set up at the Dodge City Community College’s Dome.
