Wildfires Reported Near Wilson Lake

KRSL – March 6, 2017

4 PM Monday: Two wildfires are burning at Wilson Lake in Russell County. A small fire is on the north side and a larger fire is on the south side from south of Minooka Park to south of Wilson State Park. The larger fire is burning south toward Interstate 70. Some houses are in danger. Avoid the area.

Multiple fire departments from Russell, Ellsworth and Lincoln Counties have responded, along with Russell County EMS, Russell County Sheriff’s Officers, Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers and law enforcement from the Wilson State Park Office.

The fires were first reported at around 2:30 Monday afternoon.
