A 1,000-acre grass fire that developed in Seward County last week reignited Monday afternoon.

“Most of the units in the county” are fighting the fire, according to a dispatcher. The focus is on the area of County Road P and U.S. 54, about six miles northeast of Liberal. Crews from Baker and Turpin, Oklahoma are assisting as well.

The dispatcher said the fire has been flaring up off and on since last week. No injuries have been reported, but the fire has damaged some structures.

County Road O was closed when the fire rekindled, but it reopened Monday afternoon.
