A fire in the Montara Neighborhood Friday night killed three dogs and has several people out of a home.

Shawnee Heights Fire officials say a passerby heard an explosion around 7:30 p.m., in the 6000 block of SW Fieldwood Drive and called 911.

Fire crews found a fire in the basement of the duplex and put it out.

They say no one was home at the time, so no people were injured, but, sadly, the pets passed away.

The fire marshal is assisting the investigation. The 190th’s Fire Department also responded.
