A group of dedicated and giving volunteer firefighters from Ottawa County responded last week to the devastating wildfires raging throughout the state. During the wildfires, Minneapolis, Tescott, Bennington, Delphos and Ada sent trucks and crews to Hutchinson, Wilson and Clark County to assist in battling the wildfires. The volunteers worked both day and night shifts and put in as many as 20 hours straight, not including the drive time. These dedicated volunteers took time off work without pay to assist those in need. In all, Ottawa County volunteer firefighters and Ottawa County Emergency Management put in about 275 hours assisting residents during the wildfires.
