The Marquette Fire Department, which is also considered McPherson County Fire District 2, has recently acquired new equipment, including a 6×6 from the Kansas Forestry Department.

The department also has added a new tractor from the forestry department and a 5,000-gallon tanker. The pumper truck was upgraded to a newer model and purchased from Kensington Fire Department. In addition, an ambulance was added that is being used as a rescue vehicle.

Donations from ONEOK provided new wildland gear.

A grant from the Kansas Forestry helped to pay for the trucks.

The Marquette fire district covers about 200 square miles in McPherson, Saline, Ellsworth and Rice counties.
