Fire Crews Fight Santa Fe Lake Road Blaze

By Olivia Haselwood
Andover Leader – April 17, 2017

Augusta Firefighters responded to a grass fire that got out of control Friday near SW 150th and Santa Fe Lake Rd.

They were assisted by Butler County District 3, Andover Fire and Douglass responders. Recent rains and 25 mile per hour wind gusts made fighting the fire difficult. Several rigs became stuck in the mud.

Fire departments would like to remind Butler County residents that there is a state imposed restriction on burning during the month of April. Burning must be contained to a burn barrel or agriculture property. Those who break the restriction will have their fires put out and face possible fines. Normal burning practices can resume in May.
