Two taken to hospital following Topeka fire

Two occupants of a home were taken to the hospital following a fire Sunday night..

According to a press release from the Topeka Fire Department, firefighters responded to the structure fire in an apartment building located at 2139 SE 11th Street at 9 p.m. Sunday.

When TFD arrived at the scene, no smoke or flames were seen coming from the two-story building.

All occupants of the building evacuated before firefighters arrived. The two occupants taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined the fire to be accidental, caused by unattended cooking.

Estimated cost of damage is $100.
