David Eugene Shippen

David Eugene Shippen, 64, of Harper, was called home to be with Mom and Dad on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita.

David was born on November 20, 1952, to William and Frances (Moritz) Shippen. He graduated from Harper High School in 1970. Following graduation, he attended Pratt Community College for three years.

David later served as an EMT and was a volunteer with the Harper Fire Department for 28 years.

During his lifetime, David worked at Sunflower Mobile Home Manufacturing in Wellington. He worked at Jayco, Elco, Welch Machine, SPK Grocery, Harper Camperland, and Kiser Manufacturing. One of his favorite hobbies was wood working.

David married Vickie James on April 17, 1976, and to this union was born a son, Jeremy David.

David was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Ruth Ann; and a brother-in-law, W.J. Fox.

He is survived by his son, Jeremy Shippen and his wife Chelsa of Anthony; one brother, Bill Shippen and his wife Ruth of Waterloo, Kansas; two sisters, Harriett Fox of Harper and Sister Catherine Shippen, ASC of Wichita; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 22, at the Fairview Cemetery, Danville, with Father Michael Peltzer officiating.
