Fire destroys Saline County house

Salina Journal – May 23, 2017

A rural Saline County house that was totally engulfed in flames when emergency responders arrived was most likely a total loss, but its owner and his two dogs escaped unharmed, a Saline County sheriff’s office spokesman said.

Lt. Jeremiah Hayes said firefighters were going through the house looking for hot spots a little after 10 p.m., but the fire that had been reported about an hour earlier in the 4700 block of McReynolds Road was under control.

Robert Mudd got himself and his dogs safely out of the house and asked a neighbor to call 911, Hayes said. Hayes said firefighters from Rural Fire Districts 2 and 6 were on scene.

Hayes said no cause had been determined.
