A local fire department had the chance to sharpen their skills, thanks to a retirement living center.

The Mission Township Fire Department partnered with Aldersgate Village to hold a mock training at one of the caldesac’s they’re renovating.

The firefighters went through different scenarios from search and rescue, to ventilation training.

One firefighter we spoke to says training such is imperative to life and death.

“Training is our top priority, so safety is going to be number one and our biggest concern today. That’s going to be our biggest concern today. Making sure everyone knows what they’re doing, how to safely operate all the equipment we have and be able to do their job,” Mission Firefighter Tyler Abernathy, said.

Aldersgate has ten facilities for local and county fire departments to train.
