Russell Firefighters Respond to House Fire Wednesday

Russell City Firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday evening on North Maple Street in Russell.

The fire was first reported at about 7 PM and occurred at 28 North Maple Street. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and remained on scene until 9 PM.

According to Russell City Fire Chief Shane Preston, there were no injuries.

The fire originated in and was contained to the back porch and a small bathroom at the rear of the home.

That said, the house suffered minor smoke damage and Preston estimated $30,000 of total damage to the residence.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Along with the Fire Department, Russell Police Officers, Russell County Sheriff’s Deputies, Russell County EMS, Russell County Emergency Management and the City of Russell Electric Department responded.

Rotary Rescue also responded with water and snacks.
