Russell Firefighters Respond to Porch Fire

Russell City Firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon to a porch fire at a home in the 400 block of East 1st Street in Russell.

The fire was reported at about 3:45 PM Tuesday at 407 East 1st.

According to Russell City Fire Chief Shane Preston, the fire started in a porch light on the ceiling of the home’s front porch.

It was caused by a bird’s nest in the light catching fire.

The blaze was contained to the porch area and did little damage.

There were no injuries.

Russell Police Officers, Russell County EMS and Russell County Emergency Management also responded.
