Caney volunteer firefighters spent last weekend placing two vintage hose carts in front of the fire station at Third and Spring streets. The carts were recently donated to the fire department by Cessna-Textron Aviation of Independence. The garden area was first covered with mulch then the two hose carts were anchored in place. Plans call for a new flagpole to be erected at the site, and a memorial plaque made to honor the late Tom Jones and Clifford Sanders, longtime former firefighters.
