Topeka fire officials are investigating the cause of a garage fire in west central Topeka early Monday afternoon that detoured traffic for a brief period of time.

Battalion fire chief Daniel Macke said the cause of the blaze that was quickly brought under control hasn’t been determined. He said about $15,000 in damage to the structure occurred while there was about $5,000 in damage done to the contents of the detached garage.

Macke said eastbound and westbound traffic on 10th Street from Randolph to Medford was rerouted so the firetrucks could get to the blaze that was called in sometime around 12:30 p.m.
