Horton man killed in Brown County accident

A 48-year-old Horton, Kansas, man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning at the junction of U.S. 75 and K-20 Highway.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, which occurred at 6:57 a.m. in Brown County. According to the crash report, Ronald K. Brook, 46, of Willis, Kansas, was driving a 2008 ford Focus southbound on U.S. 75 Highway and was stopped and preparing to turn onto K-20 Highway when his vehicle was struck by a southbound 2015 Volvo semi-tractor trailer.

A passenger in Brook’s car, Joseph A. Taisipic, was killed in the accident and pronounced dead at the scene. Brook was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, with unknown injuries.

The driver of the semi was Joseph C. Little, 46, of Page, North Dakota, who was not injured. All three men were searing seatbelts.

The highway was closed for several hours and traffic was rerouted. The accident remains under investigation.
